Vava'u - Tonga

Situated approximately 240 kilometres north of Tongatapu, the Vava'u Island Group is a smattering of 50-odd islands, in an area 23 by 25 kilometres, protected by a semi-circular reef. The islands are separated by reefs or open water, but are not great paddling distances apart.

This tour offers a leisurely exploration of the fjord-like Port of Refuge. Whilst paddling along the stunning shoreline, your friendly and knowledgeable naturalist guide will interpret the tropical world surrounding you. You will learn about the multitude of land and sea birds found in Vava’u year ‘round as well as the diversity of the stunning coral reefs.  Stopping for lunch at Mala Island you will have the opportunity to snorkel the spectacular Japanese Gardens. Finally, you will make your way back at a gentle paddling pace to the Adventure Centre.

Swallows Cave & Kapa Island

During the morning, you will enjoy the adventure of kayaking inside and outside Swallows Cave, a magnificent home to an abundance of sea birds and spectacular coral reefs teeming with tropical fish. Following this wonderful experience, your guide will lead you to Kapa Island – an idyllic location in which to relax and enjoy your lunch. Whilst there you will have ample time to swim and snorkel amongst a colourful underwater world of tropical fish and stunning coral reef. Back in your kayak, your guide will continue an informative dialogue informing you of points of interest as you paddle along the beautiful shoreline until you arrive back at FIKCO's base, completing your adventure.
